LEARNING JOURNEYS
Responsible Tourism
A wise teacher provided me with advice which would govern my intrinsic path to deliver education, empowerment, and opportunity to all. He encouraged me to dismantle the conditions which separate the world. The path to self-agency is an individual one. Inclusive and equitable access to global immersions and education, building bridges to personal, familial, and societal transformation.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Learning Journeys, an educational organization which weaves together the education and tourism sectors, focusing on creating traveling classrooms. As an educator teaching and designing curriculum for several colleges in the SUNY network, I have a deep understanding of delivering experiences which exceed academic and experiential standards. Our creed – and a founding principal of Learning Journeys – is quite simple: Education and exploration are fundamental human rights rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Learning Journeys’ goals are to leave the world a little bit better than we found it. As a traveling classroom, Learning Journeys cultivates a learning environment which focuses on a collaboration of interests with educators, experts, and artisans. We believe that education is fundamental to personal growth. Learning Journeys pedagogy is built on four pillars of learning: education, transformation, exploration, and self-reflection.
The lens through which Learning Journeys was created was that of an educator and global researcher in education leading to human empowerment and responsible global exchanges. Each Learning Journeys program is designed to contribute to the communities visited, through sustainable and regenerative travel practices.
At the core of Learning Journeys’ mission, community service practices support the local communities by helping to improve lives and the planet, including employing local educators and artisans who fuel the development of social economies.
Our traveling classroom programs allow participants to become truly immersed in hands-on subject learning while enjoying the authentic cultures and traditions native to the destination. This kind of experience deepens engagement with what is being learning and where the learning takes place.
And a portion of each program fee goes back into community initiatives including grants to women in underserved destinations, arts education in underserved communities and cultural and native linguistic preservation projects.
Thank you for your interest in building a better future with Learning Journeys!
