Macao Lodge is located in the surrounding areas of the hills known as Cerros de Turrubares, in the Central Pacific of Costa Rica. This is a very important location in terms of species endemism because it is a transition zone between the wet and dry forests of the Pacific coast. Moreover, two protected areas are very near the property of the lodge: Carara National Park and the Fernando Castro Cervantes Wildlife Refuge. Macaw Lodge’s guests can enjoy different adventures amid exotic plants, primary forests, trails and an extraordinary waterfall where they can relax and appreciate the site´s natural beauty.
The lodge was built following a sustainable concept offering comfort in harmony with the environment. For example, the lodge generates electricity using solar power panels and is developing projects like the tree planting program to feed the scarlet macaws, and the organic farming of agricultural products such as cocoa, acai berry and coffee. Some of the features and activities within the property: two yoga decks, tropical botanical garden, trails leading to a beautiful waterfall, permaculture tour, bird watching around the lodge and the cocoa tour.
Enjoy an afternoon guided visit to Carara National Park to view stunning wildlife and immerse in nature. (B,L,D)
